Kwik-Fit Tyre Promotion

Hi all,

First MOT was in April gone and prior to having it done, priced up 4 tyres in case they were needed to pass it's test.

Anyhow, garage said they were all good for approx another 5000 miles.

A month ago priced up tyres again knowing they would be due very soon. One place I got an online quote was Kwik-Fit. They weren't that much dearer than other places so thought I'd bear them in mind.

Last week I noticed Kwik-Fit were running a 25% off ALL tyres promotion so basically I would be getting 4 for the price of 3.Got another quote and the price for 4 tyres was pretty much the same as 6 months ago. How could this be?, I thought, how can 25% off price be virtually identical?. So I sent an email to Kwik-Fit head office with my complaint not expecting to hear anymore of it.

First thing the following morning got a phone call back asking what my issue's were.

After my gripe was listened to was told the discount was only applicable to "in-store" prices. Basically,the price a month ago at my local K F garage would have been about 25% dearer.

Okay I said, then if the price discount was only applicable to local garage prices, why does the promotional advert appear on Kwik-Fit's web site home page? Felt this was, a best, misleading, verging on false advertising.

No answer was the reply!!!

He could see my point but that was that.

Told him I wouldn't be buying these 4 or any other tyres or products from Kwik-Fit.

"Sorry to hear that Sir" was his retort, "Goodbye"

advertising standards.... give them a shout or write to them. Its misleading at best and naughty (new name for fraud) at worst.

Buying tyres and getting a good price always reminds me of this :)
