Squeaking Noise When Turning The Steering Wheel

Recommended Posts

Posted

When I turn the steering almost to the limit in my Corolla Verso 2004 model, I can hear a sharp squeaking noise. It happens only when the motor is still cold but after several minutes everything is seemingly normal. I think it has something to do with the servo because, when the sound starts I also feel more resistance to turning the wheel. So, what is this? How bad is it? I mean, should I have it checked and repaired promptly or I can still drive the car? How expensive the repair might be?

For different reasons I think but its quite common with a few makes of cars, my sons A4 does it and I know a few Jaguars had a similar problem that was `cured` by the dealer putting an additive in the power steering fluid.
