Hi

I don't have a revcounter in my Aygo and I can't find the information on the internet!

I was wondering what would be the maximum speeds in each gear? Especially 2nd and 3rd.

Probably more inportant what kind of speed do most people change gear at? I know this will vary with slopes, so say on the flat.

Does anyone know what 2000 rpm equates to in each gear?

Any help appreciated - I may just need a link to the data on the internet...

My last two cars were automatics!!

Thanks,

David

At 1000 rpm the speed is:

• 1st gear - 8,1 km/h

• 2nd gear - 15,1 km/h

• 3th gear - 21,91 km/h

• 4th gear - 27,96 km/h

• 5th gear - 33,78 km/h

At 3600 rpm (max torque) the speed is:

• 1st gear - 29,16 km/h

• 2nd gear - 54,36 km/h

• 3th gear - 78,876 km/h

• 4th gear - 100,656 km/h

• 5th gear - 121,608 km/h

The engine limiter is at 6,500 revs so you can calculate from above.

I normally change gear like this:

- 2nd gear at 10mph

- 3rd gear at 20mph

- 4th gear at 30mph

- 5th gear at 40mph

Obviously depending on the road and whether I'm driving up hills, what environment I'm driving in etc. But I find that this pattern gives me the best fuel economy :) hope that helps!
