Hi All , what is the general feelings regarding engine flush on a 95k mls. diesel?

I've just done the EGR valve and replaced the SCV valves , next job is an oil

+filter change, the oil that's in has done about 4k mls and looks really black

so should I give it flush and if so which one to use ?

p.s that back allen screw on the green SCV valve encourages you to use

vile and profane words !!!

The only engine flush I would use is Forte flush. I've used it without any problems. But you have to be aware that the flush could dislodge clumps of oil yhat could get stuck in tiny oil ways. So I'd think if you haven't used it b4 on this engine with milage you have I'd leave well alone and just do an oil and filter change.

Likely to do more harm than good especially on a high mileage engine.

If you use good quality engine oil there is absolutely no benefit in flushing an engine. Even if you do waste your money on it the oil will be black in no time again. Its also worth remembering that if you leave the drain plug out all night there will still be about half a litre of oil inside the crank, cam and many other galleries inside the engine so it might look a bit cloudy even after a change.

In the old days of early 20W/50 multigrades things were different and sediment could build up in what was essentially a very crude engine. Modern oil keeps all of the carbon deposits in suspension and it comes out when you drain it.

Save your money and put towards a good quality semi-synthetic 5W/30 or better.

Hi ...this saying springs to mind.you can't make a silk purse from a sows ear...once the oil has deteriorated beyond, its maybe dangerous to flush & disturb deposits of S###E,over regular oil changes to good spec oil is the way to go......
