Seatbelt Warning On 2011 Avensis

Hi,

I had a 2007 avensis hatch and managed to remove the seabelt warning doing the following:

Turn power on and set counter to "ODO"

Turn power off

Turn power on, within 5 seconds, press and hold the trip-reset button

After 10 seconds, fasten the seatbelt

Release the trip-reset button

.. the display should now change to "B-off", turn power off and release the seatbelt

I now have a 2011 Tourer and the above doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone managed to do this with the new avensis?

Thanks

J

Can't help you with a proper disable but if you're not a seatbelt wearer (perhaps for medical reasons etc) then you could make yourself a replica buckle out of thin plastic and plug it in. Simply draw the outline of your buckle onto said plastic and cut round it. There's a square hole in the middle - if you make that a U shape instead by cutting out the bottom then it won't need to be plugged in all the time. Simply plug in and remove to make the car think you're buckled up, and press the unbuckle button to reset.

Disclaimer... It's bad not to wear your belt, loads of people die, it's the law, blah de blah. And as the car will think you have your belt on then it might set the airbag off harder etc if you crash. Do so at your own peril.
