The taliban don't all drive Hiluxes by coincidence!

And when you think about the rep of the farmers favorite, in the mists of time, but as the saying goes "THATS PROGRESS"

My only worry when driving one of those was that you sat on the petrol tank :eek:

I don't know Anchs, are you cheering yourself up at the expense of others? ;).

Yeah, I feel better already too.

I was searching for a copy of my favourite BMW advert a while back (The one "You Suckers Will Buy Anything"), when I found these. I'm sure all you petrol-heads have seen these SniffPetrol ones before and they are a bit old now, but they still bring a smile. I particularly like "Even a BMW has one component that doesn't work".

Just one Toyota one, right near the end.

Warning, some offensive language used:

Yes its a real pity isnt it.

I personally really like the current designs that land rover have come up with....really cutting edge, sleek modern.

but this picture says it all....Image019.jpg This is quite an old photo i'm afraid. But the owner really does'nt like it.

The white writing says " DONT BUY THE DISCOVERY 3 "...& reg plate J3MUC ! !

It's my partner's fault, in a way, that we ended up buying a RAV4 instead of a Freelander. We had never owned a 4x4 or a Toyota in the past, but 5 years ago it was time to change car, and she confided in me that she has always fancied a RAV4.1.

Well I thought hmmm, cause I've always liked the Freelander a lot. We could afford an S, T,or V reg of whichever. But, as I researched both vehicles on the web of that age, I was shocked to learn how bad the Freelander was! But it was no news to me of Toyota's marvelous reputation. A few weeks later, a gleaming black W reg RAV4.1 was sitting on or drive! We are on our 3rd RAV now. Unfortunatly the other two got written off :( I'm RAV4 bonkers now! Love'em to bits.

It's quite remarkable that a brand such as Land Rover are still churning out so many brand new duff cars, shame on them.

Ooph! I think the chap should stop pussyfooting about and come out and say what he really thinks!

More seriously, when shopping to replace the 4.2 petrol last year I spent ages reading and rereading every spec. For my use the Freelander spec would be ideal but I never went near the Landy showroom because tales like the one on that site are legion. I must have visited the showrooms all the 4x4 suppliers in Exeter and test driven most of the other contenders before going for the GV.

As someone who has a soft spot for iconic British brands it seems to me that LR have followed the well trodden road of wrecking a reputation built over decades and that will signal their demise soon enough. British Leyland, where are you now?

I went into the landy garage (please dont hate me) just for a shufty after KevRav was written off.. Told the boy the puddle story, his response: wouldn't have happened to a Freelander.

My response (in my head), yeah cos it would have been in getting repaired for something else!!

I didn't buy one!!

The doors fall off when hitting water :crybaby:

Some are ok TD4`s have BMW engines, Autos have Japanese Jacto gear box...........but the rest is UK rover made and as such fails, Im talking mk1 mk2 versions here.

But still a better driving experience than a Rav in my opinion.

Things do go wrong, but on my version its mostly electrical, which i can sort out myself.............stay away from the petrol ones......they will backrupt you.
