Ciggie Lighter

Hi folks.just got a 1999 gx, went to use my sat nav via the ciggie lighter socket but no power ? fuses are ok,any ideas anyone, thanks.

Hi,Rob,first welcome to the club.

Have you tried the one in the back first to see if it works on that one?

They are also ignition controlled.

Thanks for the reply Del, i do not have one in the back and i have tried the sat nav with the ignition on but still no power ?

Is there a small glass fuse in the charger under the centre pin?

Do you own a multimeter to test the socket?

Bob. not quite sure what you mean by the charger? I can get a multimeter but not quite sure how to test it. i'm more of a nuts and bolts man,thanks for the reply.

He means the part with the wire from the satnav that plugs into the lighter socket - effectively the plug. Many have an accessible fuse inside the barrel. Those that do usually uncsrew from around the spring loades pin in the tip :thumbsup:

Not sure which satnav you are using but I have found with my TomTom that I often have an issue with the plug that goes into the cigarette socket try another plug if you have it, also try and see if you can find the cigarette lighter plug (the bit thats glows red) and just double check the socket.
