http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-rav-4-lift-kit-50mm-aluminium-/330626830730?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cfae5118a#ht_500wt_1054

Hi carl new to the rav 4.1 myself having purchased a 2 door myself this summer. These would be good for off roading but i dont know about road use, might affect the handling and stability but i suppose you would need to talk to somebody has them fitted on here to know

Hi there

You can lift the Rav4....but only by 40mm !....on shocks & springs.

If you wish to use bigger wheels & tyres it is possible but be careful of full lock, tyres rubbing on wheel arch liners (especially if you have mud terrains) where is you get a large stone stuck in the treads it can do some real damage....not good.

Due it being a monocoque body ( i.e no live axles & no ladder chassis ,lifting is very limited)

Iron man do a lift kit,as do Old man emu....but these aint cheap.

There is a site.....

www.Rav4world.com

I believe someone there called Ravster has done all this...looks quite cool, but to only gain 70mm..max..not worth it really.

I do some green laning in mine, but am real careful with big ruts & try only drive the easy ones in my area.....but they aint that easy, requires some interesting driving

hello and welcome to the forum.

I'd tend to go down the route of fitting bigger wheels. I use 18" on both of mine just now with a wider wheel and tyre on RAV number 2 - which means the car straddles potholes !!

I've worked on the suspension of mine but tbh I don't think a lift kit will do much. Better to go for a larger wheel/tyre combo and gain some more width.

Hopefully I'll be posting up some more pics.... number 1 RAV is getting a full rollcage fitted just now.

Just to add - if you are buying alloys, then go to a specialist who can tell you what offset you need for the chosen wheel, - this to avoid the tyre scuffing the inner wing.

If you are serious, you could also go for adjustable shocks to be able to firm up the suspension. A cheap fix is to use the rubber inserts put in the coil springs - made for caravanners but stops the rear suspension bottoming out so easily.
