I need an engine for my 1.0 litre yaris but I am sure I heard somewhere that firstly you must identity whether its French or Japanese how do you do that. Is there any clear markings on the engine

Any help would be appreciated

Through VIN numbers,(see earlier post (ADVICE) this evening) but as they did'nt start building them in France until 2001 then I would say your year 2000 Yaris is a 'Jappy'

It's even easier if you look in your log book or road fund licence reminder.

You need to look on the offside inner wing, that's where it is on our 'Frenchy'.

Hope that helps!

IIRC if the VIN starts with a J it's Japanese but if it starts with VN it's French.

Mine also has a sticker at the top of the driver-side windscreen which says Made in Japan :D
