Clutch Replaced

Had it done , the reason was Judder

it's been doing it for a couple of years and I finally decided to have it replaced

My mechanic said the friction plate wasn't too bad , but the thrust bearing was worn...someone in the past left their foot on the pedal.

No judder now and the pedal is so light, I nearly put my foot through the floor when I first pressed it.

Money well spent.

which clutch kit did you have filled and could you give an idea of cost.

When I had mine done, cost me £400 all-in (Clutch cover, friction disc, bearing, slave cylinder) and done by a travelling mechanic who was a friend of a friend. Originally asked for an Exedy but the mech ended up using a Valeo, but can't complain as it has survived pretty well so far!

Annoyingly the old clutch plate was fine, but the diaphragm spring on the clutch cover was very uneven and almost flat on one side, and the release bearing was worn.

Toyota wanted £700 and the going rate round the various garages I asked was £500-600.

when i done mine on a 1.0 the cheapest clutch kit around was from the dealer at 103 pounds
