For my 2003 1.4 T3 (pre-facelift) do I require the large or small CD changer connection for an XCarLink?

Been looking here here but not sure which I need.

Thanks

If your corolla is a prefacelift and does not have a mute button, 99% you need the big adapter with the 5+7 pins.

I have an xcarlink with the big adaptor and my corolla is pre-facelift of 2004.

It would be safer to check (And also be a good dry run for removing the radio, should you need to!), but most likely you have the big connector.

madvinegar is right, you need the 5+7 pins adapter. I know this because I just installed a Connects2 box in my pre-fl E12 yesterday. It's the face-lift E12 which needs the 6+6 pins adapter.

Thanks, is everyone that's installing them putting it in the glovebox or small compartment below the radio?

Well, my T3 has manual heater controls, this means it has an empty black strip of plastic just below the radio. On automatic heater control models, this strip of plastic is replaced with a simple digital clock.

So I've ordered this from eBay, the above strip of plastic can be popped out from the back once you remove the the whole centre console part. I was thinking I'll cut the plastic acrylic sheet I bought in that shape, and then mount a female 3.5mm audio jack adapter by drilling a hole in there, and hook that to the Connects2 AUX box, that would look pretty sweet imho. I'm also putting the LED display for my aftermarket reverse parking sensors there, just behind the plastic sheet so the lights will shine through the transparent plastic, I think that will integrate with the car's look very nicely.

I am just waiting for the acrylic sheet to arrive, and if you guys are interested, I'll put some pictures up after it's done.

If I can't do the above, I am going to resort to drilling a hole at the back of the small compartment above the ashtray and route the AUX cable from there.
