Sounds like head gasket issue.

Search the forum about head gasket issues. Most of the time it is 2.2.

what year is it? How many mileages on it? And there is no d-4d s version.

Toyota extended warranty is 7 years (Old) and 112k. If it falls within this (And the car has some service history with stamps from a VAT garage) then take it in to Mr T asap.

Ive seen this happen on some cars.

You need to tell them to look at the oilcooler.

Its a 300£ part.

so not cheap!

whole engine was replaced...

took it back again today, they are saying its not the engine, but old oil lefet over in the system. which would go away after a while and should not cause any proble. i asked about oil cooler, was told thats the part of engine and there is no leak.

Is this true oil cooler is part of the engine?

will take it back if gets worse...stress......more stress...and more stress...if Toyota can't fix their own car..who would?

What I dont understand, is they put a new engine in...

Why didnt they flush the system out!

The oil cooler mounts onto the engine. Its a separate part it has two internal sections

1 - The topside for coolant to circulate.

2 - Bottom side for oil to circulate.

Its basically a heatexchanger like in a combi boiler. If the oil cooler has split inside, or cracked it will mix oil.

how bad is the oil?

can you take a picture?

I took it back last week. spoke to service manager as well. Mechanic had a look at it again infront of Manager. Oil was there in coolant, but both insisted that its oild left over by old engine and would take a while to clear it out.

here is what happened.

1. when I took the car first time in, it had oil in coolant. They said they know what the problems is and will ask Toyota if ngine needs replacing.

2. engine was replaced, a week latter coolant had oil in it. took it back they kept the car and was told that this new engine is also faulty. so they replaced the engin again.

3. after few days I found out there is still oil in coolant (this is after 2nd engine was put in). took it back and was told that technician did not flush the system. they kept the car and flushed the coolant. I was told that they asked to Toyota Technical and was told engine was ok.

4. few days latter, after coolant was flushed...oil in the coolant again!!

5. took it back last week and they are insisting there is nothing wrong with the engine and oil in coolant would disappear after a while. as it takes alot of time to get rid of oil from the system.

I did ask them if air coolant was checked, and was told yes...nothing wrong with it.

what next? is it true oil in coolant system take a while to clear?

Thanks for reading long storey... :crybaby:

Hello mate.

Take it back and insist that they flush the cooling system out and return the car to you fit for purpose! I have never heard such crap from a so called Toyota main dealer, if they had done the job in the correct manner in the first place you would not be having to go through all of this. If they refuse tell them you will contact Toyota GB with your complaint.

Regards ..... Pete.
