Rav 4 Ecu

hi ive just bought my wife a2003 rav 4 automatic shes only done 6 miles in it and the ecus playing up the garage i bought it from took it to the main toyota dealer theyve confirmed the ecu is whats causing the auto gearbox not to perfom properley . toyota want a £1000 plus to repair it the garage we bought it from want to have the e c u repaired. i have been told this is a common problem and most cars between 2001 & 2003 get this problem but toyota will not accept this as a recall. i have been on rav 4 world and in the usa because of owners protests they are doing repairs on cars up to 96 months old or 80000 mile. does any one know if toyota are doing anything in the uk if not are the repairs to ecu any good

This has been discussed on the Rav4 section here, there are a few repairers of ECU's in the UK or at the cost of a new one you can sent yours to the USA for repair, and still workout much cheaper.
