Not bad! I note your average is 27mph, was most of your mileage in traffic/town? That IMO is where the Prius and Auris HSD's excel...

Sorry but not a performance at such a speed.

This summer, on the German motorway I have made 1119 KM at AVG speed 71 KM:H (44,117 M/H) for a consumption of 4,5 L. on the ODB - 4,90 in real (0,989 G - 1,077 G/100 km)

Don't worry, it's n to so bad.

...with this average mpg after nearly 2000 miles.

Hi Haworthj,

Just to say my gen 3 T spirit has done 12355 miles and shows 58.4 per gallon average at a average speed of 23 MPH so your numbers are about right for the car.

lol I was tempted to show my pic of 8000 miles with a taxi average of 53 mpg at 14 mph average speed, or the 91 mpg 12 mile run I did in the summer.

I guess it all depends on the driving you do and the roads you drive on.

But isn't it great to have a car where 50 mpg is regarded as poor. :)

Which motorway do you all use to get such MPG?

I normally drive along M5 and M4 and the best I ever had was close to 68mpg. Worst when I get into A38 from M5....

What speed do you drive at? do you use the cruise control?

I use cruise set at 60mph. Don't go on Mway much, mainly A14 and A45, occasionally M1.

If i catch up with a lorry i will sometimes sit behind that. It doesn't bother other drivers, since they have to go round the lorry anyway.

Likewise. I set max speed on the radar cruise at 60. 55, sometimes.

And I whizz past them both and still get mid 50's to the gallon :yahoo:

I don't get anywhere near the figures shown on this thread but that's because my mileage is very low. I do the worst sort of driving a car can have, low speed, short, round town trips in the main so I get about 40ish to the gallon. Still very good for the sort of trips I do though.

Mmmm,

Why do I get paranoid when I'm not getting 70mpg from a full tank (Fill to Fill)?

Currently, at 410 miles I've got 150's worth of fuel left and am reading 69.3 mpg.

Don't think I'll get back up to the magic 70 but it is getting colder.

I find that its the weather conditions that have the most impact.

With low town mileage you should get more than that. I went from home (Pitsea) to Southend seafront yesterday afternoon 12 miles there and the same back, mostly 30mph roads including one big hill up and one down in both directions and got 62.3 Mpg. similar 10 mile jpurney yesterday evening but 5 miles on dual carriageway 50mph speed limit with average speed cameras, pushed it down to 61mpg....

IMO the Prius is really a town car, not really for motorways although it is happy on any kind of road, town driving on and off of EV really helps the consumption.

I guess it depends how short his short urban trips actually are? If it's only 2 miles each way then he'd be lucky to get more than mid 40's. Also depends on the roads he has to go on etc etc. One persons town is different to anothers.

My Prius fuel consumption has increased in the last week or so.It is registering 57.9 at av 30 MPH. I was getting about 65 MPG. The weather has been mild so it must be me not driving to get best fuel consumption. I am hoping as the car gets more miles on it consumption will get better. The car has only done almost 4,000 Miles.

Indeed, we are all different and all of us drive differently too!

My best motorway run was a trip up the M3 following a coach. 70-75mph all the way, 78mpg.

My daily route consists of 8 miles round trip going to work. Pretty much all up hill to go to work and down hill to come back. Could only get 45MPG in winter and 53MPG in summer....

A38 from Plymouth to Exeter, will be great to get more than 55MPG. There is just too many hills in Devon!!!

Really short journeys, especially in cold weather, are a killer. Last weekend I was helping to run an event at a local school - distance from home about one mile, but needs the car because of carrying kit. From Friday evening to Sunday evening, I did the round trip eight times. That was sixteen cold engine starts and sixteen miles clocked. I normally get about 55 m.p.g., but by Sunday evening I was showing only 47 m.p.g.

Quite and I don't turn off heaters, heated seats etc when its cold which all adds up to increase fuel consumption. I am happy with low 40's because the Jag it replaced gave me around 17MPG on the same journeys or 30 on a run so low 40's is a figure that was impossible to achieve with my previous car on ANY journey.

The cold is definitely a factor. I am only averaging 96mpg on my current tank :crybaby:
