I’m looking for an Independent tyre dealer in the Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire area that can remove the Bridgestone Support Rings on my 2009 SR180 and replace them with standard tyres, any leads would be helpful. 2 weeks have gone buy and I’m still waiting for Mr T in Aberdeen to come back with a price.

Correct me if I,m wrong but didn,t they ditch the Runflats on the change over from T180 to SR180?

Hi Clare, all 4 Tyre walls have the support ring symbol on them, but I also have the Toyota air compressor/ puncture repair kit. I purchase it second hand last year from a Toyota dealer; the salesman did say that it didn’t have run flats at the time i didn't think to much about it. I suppose a call to Toyota UK won’t be wasted call just to check.

Thanks Again G

Most Mc Conechys depots have them. I was quoted £100 to remove all four tyres if I was buying four tyres from them or 200 to simply remove the tyres.......+ VAT of course.

Clare. Big Kevins car is a 2009 SR and He has just gone through the process of changing from Run Flats... My Neighbour has an 11 plate car and his car has normal tyres with a puncture repair kit so the change must be somewhere between 2009/2011.

Just a thought ..... I have four T180 / SR180 wheels with excellent tread on the tyres... Now if You wanted to do a swap with a wee cash adjustment and Your wheels are in as good condition as My ones ?????

I have recently bought a brand new set of wheels with winter tyres and eventually want to get rid of the Run Flats altogether. But I wont cut My tyres off cos they are so good...

I'm in Scotland also. Close to that Edinburgh.. I guess it sort of depends if You just need new tyres or are ditching the Run Flat system ....

....and all that sinclag would require to do is have your TPMS transmitificators signed into his system and away he goes....unless his whole point is to get rid of the far king things anywayhowz.....?

I AM MORE INTRIGUED BY THIS.......if simclag has runflat system, and a tin of TOYOTA SUPPLIED tyre repair gunk...WHY..?

Or is he inadvertently doing what you were warned about, Charlie (and forewarned me in turn re INSURANCE IMPLICATIONS...)?

Is he running about on runflat DESIGNATED tyres with the BSR removed (Steel Ring)and the tyres have just been fitted as normal tyres?

The bind moggles.....superb offer btw if he wishes to retain his runflat set-up....which he may or may not have....?

Normal Tyres Kev With The Flashing Bloody Light.

Edit....apologies Gary....you bought the kit as an add-on now I read properly. Salesman has me confused then.....you have runflat tyres, but he sells you tyre gunk....?

Hi big Kev, I’m looking to replace the run flats with standard tyres, the car came supplied with the air compressor/puncture repair kit, I’m not sure if the previous owner purchased this or as you say I may have the Bridgestone’s fitted without the rings… I’ll keep you updated

Please do Gary...and have just remembered some wise advice from Davrav of yonks ago.....avoid the use of Tyre Gunk if you do have operational TPMS....IT WILL MORE THAN LIKELY GUBBER A SENDER UNIT, AND THEY ARE MADE FROM SILVER PLATED PLATINUM GOING BY THE PRICE.

To find out simply let the tyre down. If it goes properly flat there are no rings inside.. If it settles and looks only half deflated the rings are still there..... Might pay to do beside a compressor though .....................

When I had my T180 the only garage that could change the runflats were Alexander Wallace in Elgin, ...In fact Arnold Clark were getting wheels couriered to Elgin from Aberdeen since they didn't have the necessary machines!

the last time I had tyres changes they did offer to leave the rings out, however since I didn't have the space to carry a spare I stuck with it, till finally saw the light and swapped to a 2010 XTR!

Dubs.
