Boot Lid Problem

Hi...just recently bought a new shape 2010 model avensis.Over-all,i a happy with it apart from the boot lid lifts really quite fast and bounces to a stop(almost hitting my wife on the chin). It seems like the spring rods in the boot are not working as they should. The small plastic clip that supports and seperates the rods move when i lower the boot(pulling away from the fixing hole)....when i took it to the dealers the guy showed me other avensis's of the same age and they all had the same problem. One was REALLY bad.. He said that "that is just the way they are".....Seems to me that a simple damper would have worked fine ..Has anyone else noticed this?and how does it compare to a brand new avensis?Any advice would be welcome...thanx
