Gents . I have been exchanging Emails with the seller of the Lindop tuning box for the T180. The Seller claims the unit He has is the newer version ( In the picture the main unit is red ) And that its an improved unit that will give more power (Quoted 225 BHP).

Is this right ?? Though I have to say its not about power for Me but about a better smoother drive and most importantly the fuel economy !!

Thanks...

Wee Charlie.

Mine is black & I believe is the latest version (bought from Kingo in June 2011) as prior versions had 2 adjustable controls where as the latest ones only have one (I stand to be corrected on this).

Again, I believe the correct figures to be 212bhp & 370ft/lbs of torque which is up from 177bhp & 295ft/lbs torque.

I have to be honest, the extra grunt is fantastic, however as the wife is doing big miles the MPG improvement is a massive bonus

Martin The seller is assuring Me that the unit He is selling is an updated or new unit..

Claim is that it up to 127 BHP I have no torque figure ....

I wonder if Kingo will chip in ? I believe He has two units that have been used on demonstration... I'm now wondering if the ones Kingo are selling are the new or old versions ? Or if indeed there are two versions ???

Wee confused Charlie.

I think I know the seller, its a new red unit, and the adjustable type, the very very new type dont even have plus/minus Battery connections, it's all done through the two plugs, his MIGHT have these leads but really makes no difference, just you dont have to put the leads to the Battery

The one's on my demo's are NOT adjustable, although once fitted, very very few people actually adjust them

Figures i quote are: STD BHP 177, improved BHP 200, torque STD 400 NM, improved figure is 470 NM, these figures vary from car to car, for instance, I have rarely seen any T180 get near to the claimed 177, usually 169/172

I know that you can get more power by turning the dial right around to 10 but I have mine set at 6 as per Kingo's recommendation as apparently this is the best setting for a balance of extra power vs MPG

yes Blue, and also as the weather gets colder, the engine does not like the higher pressure by turning it up too far, anything past number 6 is a bonus, in summer/higher ambient temperature, you could turn it up a bit more but you may get the warning lights on the dash if pushed too far

PK. Sorry to have to ask but is the eBay unit superior to the ones You are selling ??

Or put it another way.. If I were to order a brand new unit from Your self which type would I get ???? Thanks.

I am happy with number 6 and haven't bothered seeing what it's like by turning it up as it's such an improvement over the standard set up

Charlie, my USED kits are exactly the same APART from not being adjustable (and in a black case). If you bought a NEW one off me, it would be adjustable, and have no pos/neg lead to fit either

Is the man you are talking to on eBay from Yorkshire somewhere?

So presumably it will carry the rest of the warranty albeit in some one else's possession ? We are trying to agree a figure. The Seller wants to include a K&N panel filter in the price. But I do not want or need the filter as according to Bothy they flow less air than standard and I think it was Big Kevin that said they are noisy... We shall see...

Thanks.

As a second hand unit Charlie, and an auction item, no the warranty would not pass on, however as I can vouch for its authenticity, I will warrant it for you ;)

I drink Kronnenbourg 1664 Kingo

I think a K&N panel filter would flow more air through it, thats why its more noisey as you get more induction noise from the air box, because more air flowing through.

As for stopping more dirt getting into the engine than a standard paper filter, I think the paper filter wins hands down.

Ive had these filters on other cars and for air flow they are great, but I would be worried about there cleaning efficiency.

I have a K&N Cold Air Induction Kit on my S2000 and the noise is fantastic  (if you like that kind of thing) in addition to increased air flow.

If you are happy with a quiet motor then you are probably best leaving it where it is.

You deffo get a very distinct and mildly annoying turbo whistle increase using the K & N filter, so as suggested by Anchorman on one of his begging visits up here ("please Kev....let me work on your Ravs"....so embarrassing....)I changed back to the standard fluff and paper air filter. There really is a noticeable difference in noise, and it would need a clever machine to compare any performance differences.

If anybody wants to try one, they can have mine for £20.00 plus postage.....? It will be cleaned and re-oiled ready for use and charity benefits (H4H).

Big Kev

I love hearing the sound of the turbo spooling up and down with k&n filter, maybe me still being a bit childish coming from a Scooby but also very handy to audibly guage driving economy - thats my grown up answer anyhow.

Have had K&N on rav for over a year now, no issues and on the auris 180 too, both fitted with Kingos boxes.

K&N filters alow more air to be sucked into the Turbo for sure reading all the reports on it. Love hearing the Turbo spin

I had a K&N induction kit on my Rav4.1 Freesport, and it caused all sorts of problems when I came to sell it on for the T180. Fortunatly I kept the OME air box and the Main Dealer swopped it over, he wasn,t a happy chappy.

Regards Clare

Maybe as it was an induction kit, it was not installed properly, and breather pipes were left off or not connected at all, I really cant see how these kits can cause problems?

I think Clare meant the Dealer didnt like it... Not that it caused any running issues ??
