T180 - Another Engine Replaced!

I have a T180 Tourer, registered 1st Jan 2008, owned it since October 2008, never had a problem with it until the other week when it belched out smoke for about 30 seconds, next day VSC, TRC and engine management light came on and the car went into limp mode. Took it to Toyota Derby for a diagnostic check to find the problem and they informed me I needed a new engine. Turns out there are two faults with this engine, the head gasket problem and one with the EGR valve blocking and coating the pistons with carbon (mine had the second problem). Anyway despite me being out of the 3 year warranty they informed me Toyota had extended the warranty to 7 years and something like 110000 miles so I have had a new engine, EGR valve and catalyst free of charge and I didn't have to pay for the initial diagnostic. Obviously not happy with the fault in the first place but very pleased with the response from Toyota and Inchcape Toyota Derby. One final thought,I took a service plan out when I bought the car so I have full main dealer service history, wonder what would have been the response had I serviced it myself or gone to the local backstreet garage.

Had 2 T-180 engines now in my car! And I'm still thinking that the 3rd one isn't right. The 112k 7 year warranty is there even if you don't have a full Toyota service history! as long as it has been serviced (And that can be part serviced) at a VAT garage the Mr T will help out. Cant praise them enough tbh.
