Just Thought I'd Say Hi...

Just thought I'd do the right thing and stop by and say hi. I picked up my iQ2 last weekend and been enjoying it ever since. It's going to be my commuter car as I work in the city, sadly it's a 59 plate for no exemption from that nasty charge! :( It was a close choice between this and a Twingo, but this won due to the turning circle making me laugh so much.

It came with the satnav, urban, sport and style, but sadly those nice mats were missing so the dealer is getting them in for me. The only real things that are doing my head in are the body roll and the lack of support from the seats when going around the corners.

I'd certainly advise some lowering springs, I went for the genuine -25mm Toyota ones and they made a massive difference to the body roll and handling. Others have fitted aftermarket -35mm ones and are happy with those.

It is a shame about the seats, some lateral back support would be welcome...

Matt, not sure it's the back I'd change, more the base getting some raised sides.

Re. the springs as this is a second car I had enough issues getting a sensible insurance quote as it was without going and modifiy the thing! :(

I did think about winter tyres for it being that time of year, but as I've already got a full set on the Leon I dont think I'll bother.

Yeah, I'd agree, I have to pay more on my insurance premium for my IQ being lowered, but it's a cost I'm willing to meet for the benefit gained :)

Maybe you could find someone on here that's near you with a lowered IQ and see what you think?

Do not lower your iQ.... snow will be a trapp... and roadbumps will bump.. and hurt the bottom of your car...

Try to stiffen the rear springs.

2 Options...

1) Put thick rubber bands in them,

or

2) Put sum help auxiliary springs in / inside the original springs...

This to make the rear a lot stiffer...

No need in looking for reinforced shocks / they are not there.

Ive had lowering springs (35mm H&R) fitted to my IQ for two and a half years with no problems whatsover, although I do have 17"s on for 90% of the year. In the snow in the UK you will have no problem whatsover with a lowered IQ.
