Hi. My Auris model is a 2008 1.6TR MMT. This is my first automatic car, and controlled by its computer at that! Hoping someone can help me with a tricky problem - the car sometimes sticks in 2nd gear and I can't get the Toyota garage to take the problem seriously.

Usually what happens, is the automatic box will not change up from 2nd when pulling away from standstill. It happens once or twice in a journey. The engine races away and is only brought back under control by operating the manual paddle or lever (but still staying in 'E' automatic). Last week though, on a longer journey, even that didn't work. I had to go into manual and out again.

This is more of an irritation than anything, as the car will still drive, but it shouldn't happen. My warranty is up on 8 December, so this is my last chance to get the fault cleared. The problem was there from the outset and I reported it at both annual services. Nothing was done.

Anyone experienced the same thing?

your ecu needs reprogramming simple job and takes around half an hour too an hour....and the mmt is in no way an auto its a manual box with two wiper motors that change gear for you
