Had the car since April and never noticed before that the car has a voice. I assume this is standard is it?

I pressed a button on the radio and a female voice asked me if I wanted bluetooth, sat nav etc. She even understood my reply! :-)

I don't get a female voice in my car asking what I want,just one giving me ear ache and grief!!

No joy with my 3GS. I left it for ages saying transferring contacts or something like that but to no avail. In the end I just programmed a dozen or so names and numbers in to the speed dials. All I do then is push the steering wheel and then the name I want to call. It works when moving. It also took me a few months to realise the voice control was there. I tend to use it to ask the satnav to display petrol stations or restaurants when needed. Not really looked into what other orders she responds to!

all the up to date instructions for the blutooth handsfree and the handsfree kit can be found at

although i have only the steering wheel system in my XTR the instructions were not in the handbook and my dealer gave me the wrong info that did not relate to my handsfree system. Also the above is an excellent source of info for all toyota cars not just the Rav.

No, unfortunately, Apple crippled the bluetooth on the iPhone so you can't transfer files of any kind. But you can do this: push the button and say "What time is it?"

You could however alter the phones OS and set it free again, but this would void any warranty on said device.

Basically you can hack the phone, and add apps and make the phone do things that Apple dont want you to do with it. If you google "jailbreak" there are lots of write ups on it.
