Hi George

Is it the Vin number you are after? The Vin is on a plate under the drivers seat, under a slit in the carpet near where the cables connect under the seat and also on the door pillar where the lock strike plate is

hope this is of use

The VIN (vehicle identification numbers) are exactly where Tarquin says,

but these need to match the Engine Numbers stamped on the Engine Block.

(sorry i do not have an iQ to go and check)

I have never noticed these on the engine of any accident damaged iQ's i have looked at,

reason been i have just checked the numbers 'on the V5' and Car Plate not the actual engine block,

them being so no new and unlikely to have been ringers.(yet)

(i usually always would check the Engine numbers on a engine against those on a V5 if buying one & you need to get a receipt now the the numbers on for the DVLA when getting the V5 changed after an engine transplant)

Hopefully a Toyota mechanic will be along that has spotted the Engine Number location.

I think they would have to be at the rear of the block for me not to have spotted them.

(if you need parts the Motor Factor/dealer can get them from your registation number mostly these days & does not need your VIN/Engine numbers which you can get from the VIN plate/V5)

Thank You Both,

still have not had any luck, although this weekend I'll be spending some time finding it if the weather permits.

Its definitely the Engine number I am after.

That is telling you the engine number of the engine that was fitted when the vehicle was built/registered.

You will get that off the V5,

'P.5 Engine Number',

eg 'G13BB629***'

right under 'E VIN/Chassis/Frame No.' on the V5

Doesnt help if you think an engine has been changed in your vehicle for another & not changed with the DVLA

by submitting the V5 to get changed.

Email Toyota UK & ask where the Engine number is on the engine.
