Hi,

I'm looking to change my shocks on my Avensis T-180 estate. My car has over 100k on the clock and I think its about time I renewed them. The problem I have is more to do with the rear ride hight when the car is loaded up. Has anyone had any experiance of changing theres and whats the best makes to go for? I had a Volvo 850 T5 estate with load levelers that worked a treat. I'm not interested in lowering the ride height, but to make the car more enjoyable and safe in the winter weather that we will have in the next few months. Any help and advise would be very welcomed.

Hi Mistermena, why change them unless you have a problem.shocks should last longer than your 100k.is there any signs of leaks on them.

Eh up my mate. There isn't any leaks as far as I know, but I just wanted to be able to load the boot up with more stuff for the kids when I go to Rotherham for Christmas. The car looks like its on its ar*e even with not that much stuff in the boot. I'm thinking that the shocks could be getting a little week and the springs.

HI mate, most toyota dealers will do a winter check for you.my one is offering one at £9.00.check if your dealer does the same and have one done and ask them to check your suspension.its a lot easier for them to do on a ramp than you ceawling around underneath. dont think they will charge any extra for it.the check will give you peace of mind for your xmas trip too.

Thats a good heads up mate. I'll let them have a look at it while its back in there next week for other outstanding issues. Didn't think of asking them to check that while it was the ramps. But I will do, cheers.

We do a FREE check

If it's on it's RRR's then it will be weak springs, new shocks would help it dampen out the heavy load. If you do have a need for shocks, let me know, I can probably do you a good price

Kingo

Now that is a good dealer in my book

I'll have a little look see and get back to you. What I'd really like is load levelling suspension like the on I had on my Volvo V70 T5 estate. They were brill. I seem to remember they were called Novomat. But that was a long time ago so I might be wrong. Do I get a free Golf ball if I buy some off you mate? It could be a deal breaker! Lol :yahoo:
