At toyotas prices probably yes. I got a quote for 190 for the car fully tinted. No idea how much a load cover costs.

But the film is only £10 for 7m x 75cm which is more than enough to try myself and get it right.

How long does the tint film last? Someone did give a step guide a while back on this, it is cheap enough and you get enough to try it yourself, but always wondered how long it lasts for.

I`ve no idea to be honest, Maybe there are different qualities? I`m not sure, but at £10 a roll you can`t really go wrong.

I suspect its more to do with how well its put on? I presume it will mark if scratched with a sharp object.

It's the finishing that I think is where the money goes. Frayed edges from where the window moves into the door and air bubbles really spoil the look.

Many years ago when i were a boy racer  i tinted lots of my mates windows on fords.

It really is quite tricky, completely clean glass, lots of spray on soapy water,a squeegy ( window ice scraper).

And buckets and buckets of patience ! ! !

And the all important NEW stanley blade.

The film has a clear backing which you peel of as you go,this is once you have cut a piece slightly bigger than the area you wish to cover.

When you peel of the backing, the film itself is self adheasive AND IT REALLY STICKS FIRST TIME ONTO DRY GLASS ( this is where the soapy water comes in,it stops the film sticking when applied first time onto SOAKED GLASS),allowing you manoevure the film into positon.....then squeegee out the liquid, removing the air bubbles to the edges.

Then trim with blade to finish.

Ford orions were the worst, with curved rear windscreens...   they had to be done in three sections.

Ive had a go at a golfs rear side windows but I eneded up with bubbles and creases, I think I needed to heatshrink the film 1st on the outside, and then fit it on the inside, as in the video above he heatshrinks the film 1st on the outside of tailgate, and then fits it to the inside as its all the correct shape.

This is what Ive learned from youtube anyway,

But is this film a special film that shrinks with heat, or is it all the same?

"And buckets and buckets of patience ! ! !" does this equate to 1hr per window?
