Removal Of Roof Bars

Hello,

I've got a avensis d4d estate 2001. It has the standard roof bars. I only use these very occasionally, so would like to remove them temporarily to help save weight and improve wind resistance. Obviously this is simply to improve fuel economy, but I think it might be worth it.

Are they easy to remove and then replace when required.

I dont think you will save any mpg!

I do 30,000 miles a year, so even a 1% improvment would be worth considering.

The wind resistance must be significant, although not as bad as the aftermarket roof bars and I suspect they weigh quite a bit.

I keep quite good records of my fuel usage and it will be interesting to see what differences I find.

you could be better off installing a chip to increase fuel economy.

I will try and have a look at an estate car tommrow.
