Car Won't Unlock With Either Grey Or Black Key

Hello everybody, please be gentle, my first post on these forums.

The car won't unlock, with either the black key, or the grey key!!! So, no matter if I use remote locking, or the drivers door lock itself, I can not unlock the car!!! What the hell am I supposed to do now. I cant open the bonnet to check the Battery, cos I need the keys to get access to the bonnet catch (other than breaking a window - and rather not get arrested for breaking into own car, due to nosy neighbours). BTW, the car did unlock/lock with black remote key only last week. Mechanical/electrical back-ground, not on autos thou, so do have some tech knowledge, as really would rather not go to the day-time bandits called the dealers.

I also noticed an earlier post about a guy who got his delivered to India, with (i think) a similar problem of a dead Battery , and the reply of the "grey key opens the car - not matter if Battery dead or not" - Sorry but this is not true, as i've tried to use the grey key. If I put any more torque on the key, I'll either snap the key or fudge the lock up.

Any help would be most grateful

Rigger.

Edit:

Forgot to say that I had doused the lock with good ole WD-40 earlier this afternoon, and was expecting instant results. Well within 5-10 mins.

I have just given the lock another dousing. Either the first application on WD40 has penetrated the lock, or the second was what was needed - i don't know. However, the lock now operates with the key, so no broken windows or trying to yank on the bonnet catch cable through the grille. Thank god. Lesson here seems to be as Guiness preach - "All Good Things Come To Those Who Wait".

when u put the black key in what does it do?

It should unlock 1 door if the Battery has gone faulty.

Sorry, for not getting back sooner.

I edited the first post, as it seems that leaving the WD40 to penetrate the lock seemed to work. That - and another application of WD40 seemed to do the trick. The black key was the key i used to unlock the door. I used the black key in the ignition, and got nothing, no lights, nothing on the dash. This lead me to believe that it was a flat Battery. All i had to do was connect a set of jump leads to the Battery. I left it to charge for a few minutes, diconnect leads, and took the car for a 40-50 miles journey - so alternator could re-charge Battery properly, and there has been no problem since.

So, for anyone who reads this post, check your door lock periodically. Make sure the key can unlock the door. Don't always rely on the remote locking from the key. If your door lock doesn'twork - then douse liberally with anti-sieze spray - ie WD-40, and leave to penetrate. Check after an hour or so, and re-apply if needed.
