T180 D4D Head Gasket Problems

Hi, i am new to this site.

I own an Avensis T180 D4d 2006 model and have recently come across some owners problems with the head gasket on this model. I bought a Toyota due to issues with a previous manufacturer and decided to buy this model for its quality and reliability - now i am not too sure.

I have read that Toyota is covering a 7yr warranty / 112,000 miles on the head gasket?? My car is no longer covered with a manufacturers warranty and even though i have written to Toyota over this head gasket failure they have yet to reply.

Are Toyota saying they will cover a repair/replacement to the head gasket etc upto 7yrs from date of registration or 112,000 miles if it does fail even if the car has no manufacturers warranty?

The car does has full Toyota service history.

If anyone can clarify this it may restore my confidence in the car.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

if your car is within that criteria laid down by Toyota then take the car to your nearest Toyota dealership and the engine will be replaced and don't take NO for an answer, in fact they will be glad of the work!

Let us know how you get on .

Best regards ... Pete.

Am I missing something here? What is the milage on your car? If it is within the 7year 112k milage then no question you'll now get a new 3/4 engine at a cost to Mr T of around the £6500-£8500 mark. So if the answer is yes to the question then I'd hot foot it down to the main dealer and get a new engine fitted under Toyota's superb extended warranty.

Thanks for your replies.

My post was to confirm what i have heard about Toyota honouring a warranty to repair the gasket fault outside the manufacturers warranty - and putting my mind at rest if anything does go wrong.

I had a problem with my last car (not a Toyota) which had no end of problems, with little or no support from my dealer so i am cautious now if a known fault develops - being forewarned is forearmed.

Incidently the car has covered 66,000 miles.

Thanks
