Bought a bonnet bra ( soft vinyl cover for the front of the onnet ) a few winters ago for my other car which worked a treat although looked as ugly as sin. Can anyone recommend a similar thing for the rav but in ABS / plastic / black or carbon looke.. I have seen a few but some a very pricey. Any of you recommend a good product / supplier that will keep the stone chips off my bonnet / windows this winter? Needs to available in the EU to purchase.

Thanks in advance,

Allan

Allan...see attached phoaty....is this what you mean ? Formula4.co.uk....£58.80 (I paid way over that at the time !!!!) Seems to be out of stock at moment, but you can register for mail when it comes back in...and yes, IMHO it works, and even seems to deflect more bugs over the main windscreen, but I have never really done a count or survey as such....

Edit....just noticed yours is 2003 model, so they are indeed in stock at £50.80.

Big Kev

Hi Molboman - not sure where you are in Europe, but I have one of these for a 4.2 which I have never got round to fitting. Still in the original packaging but I guess you would prefer to get a brand new one.

If of any interest then PM me.

I would feel a right Tit with one of those on My car ..... :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Wee Charlie.

I know they look really stupid....but a must if you don't want to keep chucking up £400 every year for a new windscreen. I have changed 2 in 3 years before I bought mine! You should see the gravel / grit they put down over here for 5 months ! Every wondered why every Stockholm taxi has a cracked windae? Am a half tit, cause mine only goes over my bonnet and not the lights and bottom bumper....but to be fair....no one gives a sh*t here what your car looks like in the Winter when you are up to your t*ts in snow!. If it starts in the morning and gets you to work...it's a Brucie bonus Matey!

Stay Warm

A

Hi Allan,

have you considered this stuff: http://www.invisiblefilm.co.uk/index.html

I'm sure that one of our members fitted it to the front of his bonnet. At the time of the original discussion it was said that the material was developed for protecting helicopter rotor blades from sand damage when operating in dessert conditions. My brother has had a piece fitted to his rear bumper to protect it from his two rather over enthusiastic Labradors. If you have any qualms about doing the job yourself, there is a place on the Stafford side of Telford that will do the job for you.

On the 4.3 there are areas of this stuff, or maybe the Japanese equivalent, applied to the bottom rear corners of the rear doors in the factory by Toyota. It's as tough as old boots and all but invisible once it has cured. Wouldn't mind betting that Charlie has it on his bike!

Yes....that's the same gear as the stuff that's on your phones and ipads as screen protectors...think it is carbon fibre base too! The trouble is it doesn't deflect the stones and studs off other winter car tyres smacking your windscreen. That's why you need a kind of raised edge at the bonnet to deflect most of crud coming your way!....If I had my way I would cover my entire car with that cool stuff!hahahaha

Cheers
