Wheel Size (Again)

I know there are some threads around discussing wheel sizes but can anyone give me a definitive spec for the OEM 17" rims on the gen 3 T Spirit / T4 please. I've seen some awesome wheels, cheap too, which would look the mutts nuts on my Prius. The only details on the website is Bolt Pattern : 10x100/114.3 and Offset : 42. The site says they'd fit an 09-ON Prius but I really need to verify. For reference the wheels would be 17" Kei Racing Fuji in gloss black.

The general opinion seems to be 17x7J, 50mm offset, centre bore 54.1mm and bolt pattern 5x100mm. Ok, i wonder how much tolerance would I be allowed on the offset, say, if the new wheels were 35-48mm?

I took off a set of OEM 17" wheels today and they are marked 17 7J 50

Thanks. So, yes they are 50mm offset then. :) The wheel company has said, for the wheels I'm interested in, that the spec differences are minor and wouldn't affect fitment to my car even though the offset is 42mm. I don't know how / if 8mm offset would make any difference. Before anyone sends me a link to a 'wiki offset page' I generally know what offset means I just don't know if 8mm makes any significant difference. I was just going to have the OEM wheels powder coated black but the wheel painting guys said the OEM 'spokes' are too wide for gloss black to sit properly on, anthracite maybe, but deffo not gloss black :(

The wheels will be moved outwards by 8mm each in your case. Not too much really.

Perfect for Insurance Company to reject any claim as non standards wheel = modification.

If you're daft enough not to declare it but I doubt they'd be over concerned about wheels. Besides, where have I mentioned it that I'm not going to declare them?

Now this on the other hand was modded...and my premiums hardly went up as the power increase was less (just) than 10% of the stock bhp. Stock at 189bhp so I was allowed up to 18bhp extra.

Ooh that reminds me of my T Sport and those wheels that were about as hard as cheese which soon got changed. Loved mine.

I was charged extra insurance when I replaced a set of alloys by some from a later model. Both were the same size and they were changed simply because the old ones needed refurbishment and it was cheaper to buy a used set of wheels and tyres that the mechanic at my local garage was wanting to get rid of. Insurance companies have some odd ideas sometimes.
