Hi

I have a celica VVTI 2001 model and am wanting to know if anyone can tell me where i can find the best place online to buy a performance exhaust as i want to replace my standard one also if someone can tell me if some performance springs will lower the car a great deal or will i have to invest in a coilover kit

Thanks

There are plenty of decent custom exhaust places around, don't go above 2.5", that is if you want a full system. If not, the a cat back system will be fine but it all depends on how loud you want it. Blueflame are a good place.

As for springs, the best ones to go for are the standard 190 GT springs, which are a 30mm drop.

Just to add to edwardio's post, the Springs fitted to the GT are available from Toyota Dealers at a cost of around £145 plus fitting, and are known as TTE Springs (Toyota Team Europe). They are linear rather than progressive, and Toyota quote a drop of between 26-30mm. Bear in mind that a decent set of coilovers will cost around 35% of the value of your car.

Don't forget to run these mods. past your Insurance Company

If you wanted to change to 17" wheels, the profile of the tyre would change. So basically providing you stuck to the preselected profiles, dropping the car on 16" or 17" wheels would be no different. The car would sit at the same height.

Stock 17" rims run 205/45/17 tyres

Stock 16" rims run 205/50/17 tyres

16" wheels will give you a larger sidewall & therefore more road bump absorbsion.

I've not run 16"s as mine have always been 17", so I had to do the cardinal sin and quickly looked it up via a tyre supplier website.

Most owners would agree that 16's are a tad too small for the Gen 7. If you do decide to splash out on 17's, here's a bit of info. to ensure everything fits as it should:

PCD: 5x100

7J x 17"

ET/Offset: 35-40 (the higher the number here, the more sunken into the arch the Wheels will appear).

Be aware that after market Rims need different (tapered) Wheel Nuts which are normally supplied with new Rims.

Tyre size choice should be one of these three:

215/40/17

205/45/17 (OE)

215/45/17

One last snippet of advice, DO NOT skimp on the cost of tyres, quality tyres are still much cheaper than funerals!

PS edwardio meant 205/50/16 tyres are the OE size on 16" Rims.

HTH :)

Just spotted why you were puzzled by my post now!

Yeah you are right I did mean 205/50/16 & not 205/50/17! :bag:
