Rav4 (4.3) And Viper : Defogger

Hello All,

I recently installed a Viper system in my RAV, just for the remote start feature. Is nice to find your car warm in the winter mornings .

Unfortunately I was unable to find a way to connect the defoggers (mirrors and rear window) to it. Viper has a special channel for this purpose that can be programmed to (-)pulse or 10 minutes constant (-200mA).

Can somebody tell me where I could connect this Vipers channel? Where is the defogger control socket ?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

alextz

A warm car in the morning you say? What it is this viper system you refer to, how much does it cost and whats involved??

It suppose starting the engine remotely. Price depends on the system. You could choose from a simple remote start to a complex 2 ways alarm with color display.

Here is a sample of a middle system: 2-ways alarm.

Range action up to 1.2 miles. So you could stay inside the house and check the car status to see if you locked it or not,

get the temperature or start the engine.

The system is the one from HERE

Nobody?

How straight forward are they to fit and how does it affect insurance Alex?

Davrav: You could install it using a CANMAX400 that can be programmed particularly for RAV4 - meaning that is fully tested for RAV4.

Regarding the insurance I don't think that it will be a problem if you install it in a certified service.

An entire system could be composed from :

A Viper alarm with remote start

A CAN module (optional) - for not cutting to many wires ;)

A key bypass module like DB-ALL or XK05-PKT2 (specially programmed for Toyota)

More information you could find here http://www.xpresskit.com/Default.aspx

But going back to the topic. I know how to configure the system. I don't know where the defogger connector is in RAV. I found some reference about IQ connector, but I don't know its location!

This link should have the electrical wiring diagram for a 2007 Rav4. In the wiring diagram you should be able to find the correct connector for the rear defogger, what the connector looks like, and where it is. On the USDM Rav4, the connector is on the back of the driver's compartment fuse box, facing the firewall.
