can someone tell me how reliable toyota engines are ?? if a 2001 VVT-I Celica has done 117000 will it keep on going if its been looked after ??

The engines are good with plenty with a lot more miles on them than 117000.

The only issue you need to worry about is that it is a prefacelift engine. These all have a design flaw that caqn result in excessive oil useage. ALL the prefacelift engine have the flaw but NOT ALL develop the oil useage issue.

Regular servicing, oil checking & non thrashing of the engine all the time 'should' keep the oil issue from appearing.

Yeah, all the 140 VVT-i's that are 1999 (99) to 2002 (52) are affected. So go for a 2003 onwards if you have the funds.

Another easy spot, it the front bumper will have a long slit as a grile with the toyota Badge above it, inseatd of the Badge being in a small grile. Or the older cars have a grey interior, where as the newer have a dark interior.

Well the engines of Toyota are all pretty good,They just need to take care of them and be in condition every time.
