Can anyone send me a link or details of the cd radio player standard in my 2003 4.2? What's the Navi trip button on the botton right of the radio's purpose? Is that giving real time fuel consumption and average speed? Is it acurate?

Apologies for maybe asking the obvious however don't have manual for the car.

Thanks in advance,

Allan

Hi Allan,

Consecutive presses gives current mpg, then avrg speed (since last re-set), then avrg mpg (again, since last re-set). When you are in either of the avrg screens, if you hold the Trip button down until you get a beep, it will re-set & begin calculating the avrg from that point.

You can also switch between imperial & metric measurements but if you need to do that, let me know as I'll have to go check the handbook.

Re accuracy, the mpg in our 02-reg is spot-on (I've checked it several times brim to brim) but we have a 54-rg 3-dr and it's over optimistic by about 15%. The only way to check the mpg is by carrying out brim-to-brim calcs over say 1,000 miles (to try to eliminate the major errors). For avrg speed, the only easy way I know of is to get someone to time you on the M-way against the markers on the edge of the hard shoulder which are exactly a mile apart. Obviously it's difficult to do this on your own so best to get a willing passenger with a second hand on their watch or get them to drive while you do it.

Hope this helps.

Jim

I think the petrol MPG accuracy is spot on but the diesel is wildy optimistic from reports on here. Hit MENU to toggle C/F, MPG /l/km etc.

I found the Economy shown on the Display on my 2005 Petrol to be very misleading, with anywhere between 8% and 40% out (and on the optimistic side).

I recorded the economy via spritmeter on every fillup and also fitted a Scangauge to check the economy (scangauge once calibrated was always spot on)
