Starting Problems

Hi can any one help me i have a Rav4 D-4D VX it has done 94000 miles it also has full service history i am having starting problems it start fine when cold it turns over well the problem starts when it gets hot if i drive for lets say 30 minutes turn the car off and try to start it it will just turn over after waiting 20 minutes or so it will start i have been told it could be the Battery but it turns over fine also been told it could be a temperature sensor but i just dont know what to do can any body help me Cheers sorry forgot to say it is a 2002

Is it possible you have mis-fueled.

I had same symtoms when I had half a tank of diesel and filed up with petrol.

If it won't turn when its hot you need to do a cranking test with the starter. It sounds like the windings are getting goosed. Try bump starting it when hot on a hill.

Hi thanks for reply the car turns over fine but will not start when hot the more you try the Battery start to give up but thats normal as i said if you leave it for a while it will start fine i just dont know

I wonder if its starved of fuel and the temp is a red herring. Change the fuel filter and try again.

Can you bump start diesels? I`ve never had the honour :D
