Warranty?

Auris2010

Hello! Im a newbie on the forum, just want to get any feedback regarding toyota warranty?

I got an auris sr 2010.

1. If i put any non toyota accessories or parts will it invalidate my warranty? Like putting aftermarket HID headlight, changing lights to LED, non toyota head/ dab stereo.

2. Second consumables like brake pads, disc, fluids are not covered by the warranty, so is it safe to say that i can replace it with other type like mtec brake disc and forodo pads without voiding my warranty.

Any opinion are greatly appreciated.

I'll steer clear of the 1st question because there are doubts about the legality of some lights ...

However, as for 2 as long as the items used meet or exceed the oem specs. & are fitted correctly by a competent person then they can't invalidate your warranty in the same way that you don't have to have your car serviced by a Toyota dealer (it's all EU legislation).

(that's not to say though that Toyota may look more favourably on any claim if it's all Toyota)

If your cars under warranty u must use genuine filters to be covered or even to get good will repairs mr t def wouldn't like a k n filter in your airbox just think if your maf went they would blame your after market air filter as the cause of the meter going

the EU says not but that they must be as good or better than the oem.

I thought about fitting a K&N but I've not seen anything that says that I would see any noticeable difference but I did come across some stuff that suggested that oiled filters & turbos may not be a good combo.

Under the Aftermarket Block Exemption Regulation that cam in on 1st June 2010 only where the vehicle manufacturer pays for a job undertaken by the authorised repairer (e.g. warranty work) can it insist on the use of parts supplied by it.

The vehicle manufacturer may oblige its service organisations to only use spare parts which “do not harm his reputation” (“matching quality spare parts”) or which are manufactured in accordance with the specifications and manufacturing standards which the OEM prescribes for the assembly of the relevant vehicle (“original spare parts”).

While the vehicle manufacturer can insist on the use of quality parts, it cannot impose significant minimum sourcing obligations on the authorised repairer.
