hi all just thought i would post on this as i have ummed and arrrhhd about this for ages. After looking around on the net for about 2 years before finally taking the plunge i grew some minerals at the weekend and ordered a chip. The one i decided on was the Synergy 2b from a company called tuning-diesels.com. It cost £199 plus a bit for postage and it arrived yesterday. It took about 5 mins to plug in and then away we went. Initially i was a bit underwhelmed as i used to have a chipped 325tds which was an animal and would pin you to the seat under violent acceleration(and clouds of smoke) however now i'm used to it i'm very pleased. i have got it turned right up and the power delivery is really smooth and refined making the car so much more drivable. It hasnt gone into limp mode unlike some others which were reviewed on here and the price was right. No word on any change to the fuel economy yet as i havent been on any long journeys yet but i will update when i get further info So now i've made it quicker i've turned my attention to the crappy brakes and ordered some Mtec drilled and grooved front discs and pads which i'm waiting on right now. i was gonna get a k&n panel filter but as i've just serviced it, it can wait a few miles as i have new filters in it.

which pads did you go with?

I went with Ferodo Premier (didn't get from Mtec iirc they supply Mintex) with with my Mtec grooved disks & been happy.

i got the standard pads supplied with the discs i think they're mintex however if they are up to no good like the oem ones i will be buying better cos for a big car the brakes really are rubbish on the initial press of the pedal.

I've got the Mtec drilled and groved (Black addition) with the Mintex pads and they work well. But I bet they wont be as good as the Ferodo pads!

I take it that you looked at the Kingo box and the Tunit ones? So what made you go for this box over the others?

to be honest i cant remember how i got to their site but upon looking they only made boxes for a small selection of motors so i thought more attention would be paid to the product. they dont make a box for every car imaginable!!! also i thought the price was very reasonable and lastly an avensis owner had written a convincing review of it. i also think 400 quid and upwards is a little excessive......for a little box of tricks.....not that i'm tight lol
