Hi all, new member here, I am 33 yrs old, married with two young kids (2 and 6 months) I am a proud new (as in last night) owner of a lovely red celica soft top, first time in something with a soft top, and first time owning something with 2 doors and a bit sporty..plus its an auto box (never had one, but my god the kick down is ace! I love it!)

I did have a Vauxhall Frontera lwb as the school run/shopping car and general runabout but the tax was due and a few niggley bits needed doing, with the weather getting worse and not wanting to be freezing my bits off on the driveway spanner in hand I decided to get rid! We... had decided to get something boring, reliable and practical due to 2 kids, pram and all that entails and "we" decided on a vectra/mondeo or even a dreaded MPV.

After reading an advert on "preloved" I drove a 100 miles into the middle of nowhere (no mans land is more frequented) I had a done deal on a shiny immaculate red 1991 J plate celica JDM import! I have no idea as to what model it is, I believe it is a 5th generation 4ws? or gt4/four?? Not sure really. I know it is a 2 litre thats about it?

Considering its a 20 odd year old car the bodywork is minty mint, would put a 5 year old car to shame, bar a split in the rear screen and a bit of paint missing from the lower front bumper (came with rattle can primer and matched colour new unused!)

The wife is a tad erm, ****** off with me for comming back with a 2 door convertible like but meh... my car my money and I am the only driver! so tough melons!

Not too sure what its worth but its gotta be worth a hell of a lot more than a clapped out 1996 4x4 that was doing LESS than 14mpg (cost a $£$£% fortune driving it there) I did make the new owner aware of all the fixes it needed but was happy to swap so swap I did!

I figure a few hundred quid and it will be a well sorted motor! I love the thing to bits! Miss my 4x4 but I am sure I can make use of the 2 spare spaces on my drive.

I pulled in, to get petrol on the journey home and realised I had made the right choice when I saw this little boys face go "OOOoh" as I pulled along side him, it was like I was driving roary the racing car or lightning McQueen! Ok so its a 20 year old celica, but its MY 20 year old celica! I sat in it for a good 1 hour or so just faffing with the buttons last night! power roof power folding mirros! Tv dvd sat nav bluetooth! air con! Its got more toys than an argos catalogue! And they all work too!

Just shows how good Toyota are, at that age and (to me) it looks fresh and aged really wel, NOT one spec, not an inch of rust and everything works like it should.

Oh well enough drivel from me!

Cheers
