I'm thinking of going the bigger tytes route too. At the moment its got a 60 profile, would like maybe a 75 or 80 if possible. On the other forum there's a post with tytes sizes on. I'm not too sure about the 245 width though

Kind of depends what wheel you will be using. And of course on other posts here there is advice on tyre size v effect on the speedo reading.

I'm running a 245 tyre using 18" wheels, but then I have to use 18" with a particular offset due to the calipers I use.

On number 1 RAV, I'm looking at moving up to 20" wheels, once I can afford the cost!

On the original wheels, you might find the wider tyre fouls the inner wing on lock.

If you put tyres on that have a bigger radius I'm sure it will effect your speedo reeding not to mention making harder work for your engine and probably effect your fuel economy too. if you put wider tyres on a rim which isn't wide enough to suit, you risk tyre movement when cornering. This was the advice I was given by my local tyre fitters.

I just stuck with the standard size 215/70/16 to be on the safe side.

235/60/16 is standard on mine, the 70 and 60 parts affect the speedo. We have 2 standard sizes here. Which one is correct, or are they both in tollerance. I'm pretty sure they speedo is not drastically affected?.

235/60x16 and 215/70x16 were both used on the early RAVs.

If you do a search on this forum section, there have been a number of posts on wheel/tyre size giving various websites where you can check how the size compares re the ciurcumference of the tyre chosen and so the effect on the speedo.

from memory, a 10% tolerance is allowed on the speedo given that these things are not exact.

Silly question, but why do you need bigger wheels? What's the advantage?

I've got 225/65R17 as standard (57 plate) and have never felt the need for bigger tyres/wheels

You dont really need them. Just for looks really. Although i want a bigger side section for comfort and more protection for the rim when off roading. Will look more like a 4x4 also, bit more ground clearance.
