Tank Fuel Pump

Avensis D4D 2002.Is the fuel tank pump only operational once the engine is turning over? or should it be energised as soon as the igntion is turned on. There is no fuel supply at the filter on turning on the ignition and it takes a few attempts to start, once the car is running it is fine for the rest of the day. SCV's checked and found to be functional

What condition is your fuel filter in? Whaen was it last changed?

Does the fuel system have a primer button or bulb. If so then there won't be a primary pump in the tank or elsewhere.

correct.

If your fuel isnt getting through,

you need to look at filter and pipe work,

are u sure control valves are working correctly?

Been away thanks for the response. There is a primer button on the fuel filter
