Ummmmmmmmmmmmm.... Never heard of them. Doesn't mean that they're no good! But what reviews have they had in mags like diesel car ect?

The only way to find out for sure if these shall We say more economical devices is to try one...

Graeme. As on the other thread You have an RS Cosworth escort ??? Have You had any mods done to it ? With all due respect cheap is usually for a reason ?? Yes of course there are bargains but the consequentional damage could be costly..

Lindop and Tunit seem to be the kit of choice but they are twice the price of the ones in the above link But are also safe........

Mate. I would guess that You would only take one apart if it was knackered and out of warranty ?? Kingo reckons that some of the cheaper ones contain only resistors that fool the engine into thinking its cold so puts through more fuel ...

I really dont know to be honest but what I can say is that over the Years I have had lots of crs re mapped or added piggy back tuning boxes to them .. RS Cosworth 3 door. Escort RS Turbo. Focus ST. Jaguar XF Several RS Audis. ect ect and when I have strayed off the path of the proven and well known tuners I have come unstuck..

But thats not to say the one Graeme has highlighted is not perfect !! It could be better than the Lindop or the Tunit boxes for all I know... The only way is to talk to someone who has one or who has had one or invest the coin and find out ....

I think there are good reasons why the other 2 tunning boxes that Charlie has mentioned are the cost they are. You dont get out for nout!... A lot of the piggy-back boxes that you can find on places like eBay just fool the ECU into thinking that the engine is cold and ramming more fuel to give the power. But.... then you'll see your dashboard light up for Christmas... Nice to get into the festive spirit! but no cars alowed at this party

My advise would be to look at the ones with the reviews from the end users and the data thats out there on the boxes! A good box isn't gonna be cheap! But it could be a big expensive to your engine with a cheap one.

Yes you can get a box for the rav,

What Jedi meant was that You cannot remap the rav.. This is due to its extremely complex Denso ECU. So piggy back tuning boxes are the only choice..

Yer no re-map for the Rav as no one to date has managed to get through the Denso encryption code. So we have to make do with a piggy=back box. I think this a good thing as if you sell the car you can sell the box...
