Engine Noise When Fan Engaged

I recently noticed in my 08 Toyata Avensis that the engine noise increases when I put on the demister fan. I especially notice this first thing in the morning - any comments would be wewlcome.

Do you mean that the engine rev counter goes up when the demister fan is on? If so that is quite normal...

Anything that puts extra load on the engine (aircon, lights, fan etc.) can see an increase in the idle speed.

Is yours a petrol or diesel (apparently the diesels have a more powerful electrical system [alternator, battery])?
