Hi all,

I'm new to here and hoping someone could help me please?

My 1995 Celica 2.0l has decided recently to become very hard on petrol, would anybody be able to tell me where to start ruling out problems??

Many thanks in advance

How many miles has the Air Filter done?, many owners don't bother replacing on an old car. It would be worth checking the Plugs too. It's also possible you have a sticking Brake Caliper, so check all four Wheels are spinning freely.

While you're at all four corners, have you checked the tyre pressures recently?, they will drop as the outside temperature reduces and increase drag.

As Bryan says, the car will be running on automatic choke longer in Winter, but that should only make a small difference in MPG.

22 MPG, now that's not good !!! How are you checking the consumption, full tank to full tank?

Do you do any long journeys in it or is it all short trips?

I'm sure other ST202 owners will confirm midd 30's is the more expected return.

OK does it rev freely upto the redline when warm?

OK back to square one as they say.

Did you used to get good Mpg from it?

3S-GE or 3S-FE?

Std size Wheels and Tyres?

All brakes free from binding? Do any of the wheels feel hot after a run?

It's a 3S-GE with standard size wheels and the brakes are free.

The car is now only doing 22mpg, what was it doing a few months prior? and has anything changed in your drive style like a new job to commute, also take into account of the denser traffic due to the xmas shoppers and the lower ambient air temp

The reason I say this is because my brand new works Discovery averages 25mpg but has now decreased to 21ish from the cold and more traffic due to xmas shoppers, even dropped to 19.8mpg on Saturday,
