All New Yaris

About 6 weeks ago I purchased a new Yaris from a Toyota Dealership and I have been very impressed with it (I amover 65 )

A couple of days ago I took it back to have a few extras put on it and I also asked the service guy to explain a couple of points regarding the Trip system.

After I left the Dealership it was raining hard so I drove home with the lights on which meant that the instrument panel was illuminated as I expected. On arriving home the car went straight in the garage.

The day after I was driving along and I thought that the gauges didnt seem the same as I remembered them to be.

The panel as 3 gauges Tachometre, Speedo and fuel gauge and the only light on these was the dim backlight on the little oblong on the Speedo which gives the Outside Temp,Clock and Milage.

Am I immagining things when I thought that the Guages were slightly backlit even when driving without the lights being on?.

What you describe is just the same as my wifes new Yaris side/headlights not switched on no dash illumination but the odometer and temperature easily readable. I do not think they are illuminated as such it is simply a liquid crystal display, like a calculator.

Many thanks for replying Geoff,it was just that I thought that when I brought it out of the dealership after having a few bits fitted that things had changed.

As I have allready stated I have only had the car a few weeks and overall I am very satisfied but there are still a couple of things that niggle me. One of those niggles is the warning when you have left your sidelights on,on the model previous to this when you had the sidelights on there was an icon of a light with lines radiating round it. With this model though all you have is a very dimmly lit light at the top of the main display screen. A couple of times I have got back to the car and noticed the sidelights on. I tend to be one of those drivers who when in bad visability drives with his lights on, this is the law I know but this is something what gets to me when you see the amount of drivers without lights even in torrential rain.

Yes I too noticed the lack of a warning lamp for the sidelights, the handbook shows one with the proviso 'if equipped'. You should have a buzzer though if the sidelights are on, engine not running and the door is opened.
