Very nicd Mod. Sorry guys its not possible to do it on the original key fob. It could be done however on a seperate one. Our car works in two stages first you wouls have to be near the boot for the smart entry to pick you up via your smart key fob which has a very short range so literally standing behind the boot door. Once sensed, then you could open the spring loaded boot with your second key fob. Depending on the springs this could knock you off your feet if you dont get out tje way in time. You would need to test if by being neer one of the side doors makes the boot available to be opened remotely instead of having to stand behind it

Peter, Imagine this- The three mini-guns bolted to a steel cross member fitted (with bolts you can remove when needing the back seats) across the top of the folded seats. Using David's about to be patented tailgate/hatch opener, and there you have it. A device to rid yourselves of tailgaters. No more idiots with their lights on high-beam behind you, acting like you are not there. Just rig up a switch fitted next to the central cupholder, and a few whirs later, no car behind you. :2guns: Someone blocks you into your driveway, open the tailgate and make the offending vehicle look like Swiss cheese! Simples!

PS: David, They could stand to one side of the tailgate, so's they don't get clobbered. :bash:

PSS: Peter, who would want Stone Lions at their gate when they could have those babies? Imagine the sign- 'Unwanted Solictors will be shredded by three mini-guns!'

PSST: Jordan, like the idea of that. Maybe they have something like it fitted to the Aston Martin Cygnet?

minigun-blond.jpg

Sorry.. got carried away.... :offtopic:

ON-TOPIC...again....

Strange indeed that my rear window gets dirty... but the rear camera does not....

But I must say, that all of the "red" on the back of the car, does get covered with a gray/blackish type of coating.

Looks like soot (you call it that... soot?), black from the exhaust, because the exhaustpipe/thingie does get blackish...

Hahaha that cracked me up. Except people don't expect an iQ to fly, especially the 1.3 in second gear to 60 thanks to vvti haha. Bad I know, but the looks in their faces-so worth it.

This is getting mad and mad. As far as the camera goes if it does get blocked with styff , i only have to clean an area the size of a 10p coin ore 1 €. Not the whole window so takes 3 seconds. Tailgate, you could first operate the originsl key fob followed by my mod one and it would open. But why would you want one. The idea of smart entry is so you dont have to put your hand in your pocket to open it with your hands full. Or am i missing something peeps.

Coorect David... if you press the right-lower button on the Smart key.. (3 buttons... 1=open 2=lock 3=rear open),

Then what happens is that the rear window pops loose... The rear of the Smart consists of upper glass and lower metal, with 2 lock-thingies...

Opening the lower part, still requires your fingers / left and right.

th_DSC00218.jpg

And you can sity on the lower half of the rear door... up to 100 kilograms... Shame iQ does not have this..

no counterbalancing thanks David, as that implies a manual close...can't have that

has to be motorised open & closed, meaning just a small electric motor (akin to one used on my SunRoof), and a chain/geared drive.......

Peter, that picture is so cool  , and I also like the one with the buggy in too... Where do you get these pictures? You're not a military dentist are you? :D

David, I can only say that my iQ is not of the posh variety. It does not have keyless entry -unless I lobbed a brick through the side window. Anyway's, twasn't me that asked about 'no touchy da hatch' opening of the tailgate. Although, if you could adapt the VW and Audi system, wiggling your foot under the bumper, then just maybe... No! It isn't fair on you is it. Here we are piling your jobs to do list higher with jobs we want doing. I'm sure you have enough on your plate already. Besides, it'll soon be that time of year when people begin to build themselves up for a stressful time of year, Christmas!

Bah Humbug!

PS: I think you should apply for a job with Toyota UK and get them to pay you for your ideas on changing stuff in the iQ. You could be minted. Think of it, graduating from an iQ to an Aston Martin Cygnet. What say you to that one?

Nice idea Barry, like it.

Hey Bob,

No I am not a military person, but I do like BF3 (I'm "RealButcher"). Mostly I am a "anti-tank" guy.. so with a RPG of some kind...

And pics are very easy to get... Just type "miniguns fotos" in the Google search ... and there they are... easy as 1 2 3 ...

And changing from iQ to a Cygnet.. is not very much of a change.... What do they say in 2 1/2 men... "you cover a !Removed! with powdered sugar / it's still a !Removed!" or something of that ....

Okalee-dokalee, here is an update. I have applied Rain-X to all (external side) of the cars windows. A double dollop covering as suggested. The difference is great. I used to have this stuff on one of my old cars and found it a great thing to apply this time of year. The back window is now clearer to see through even when covered in road grime (in the area where washer/wiper doesn't reach). The windscreen is also better as the crud just peels off it like it's being jet washed -slight exaggeration there. So, mission accomplished.

Then it is time for 'Fog X' for doing your inside glass.

george

Thanks George for that one. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/204747/antimists.html I checked this out and now I remember where I heard of Fog-X before. It appears to be the best stuff for anti-fogging. The good thing is that with a maximum of two people in our car, it's not likely to get too bad, unless we're soaked or covered in snow.

It appears that mud flaps don't do a great job with the diffuser fitted, and still are not so good just on their own. I also remembered that the handle and button to open the tailgate is covered in road crud too. Not so bad if you've just pulled up outside your own home -or somewhere you can wash your hands. Perhaps David (Tarquin) could come up with another solution; like a downward pointing windscreen wash, only for the handle and button area.

Or, just have a glove you don't care about, or something like, to 'utilise' the handle... oh dear, this is dragging on isn't it?

Thanks for the 'how to' pics Peter. By the way, is there anything not fitted to your car? ;)

YEP... this is NOT fitted... thankyou...

And I DO have a diffuser...
