I read in the Sunday Times pullout, InGear, that the £5k government subsidy for electric vehicles was available until the end of March 2012.

Does this mean the subsidy ends then ?

Will the Prius PHV be out before then ?

Will the price of the PHV drop after that ?

I was under the impression that the Govt. had allocated a certain amount of cash towards this subsidy and when it ran out - tough! No actual end date had been fixed...

Maybe that's been changed, but I wouldn't believe anything in one of Murdoch's papers...

According to DFT the grant is supported for the life of the current parliament but is subject to review in early 2012. If it is like the feed in tarifs for solar PV, anything could happen.

Could this be why Toyota are suddenly getting cagey about the price and have now actually removed it from their website? It was indicated at £31,000 - £5,000, whereas now it's "to be confirmed".
