Back Lights

I experience a strange problem with my 2010 Auris 1.33 All my backlights, except direction lights, blew up! This happened right after i started the car on a cold day. Anyway, i thought that there was faulty fuse, but it was actually the bulbs. I contacted the dealer who said that this is not usual, and if i experience this in the future, they have to check it, but for now, i have to change the bulb my self. Easier said than done!

I've managed to change the bulbs on the car's left side, but i'm completely stuck on the right side. How the heck do i remove the grey cover to access the bulbs? It's completely impossible to loosen! And the manual doesn't help much.

This is my first car, and i'm not used to fixing car, but i'm willing to learn! :-)

Thx for any help.

It's removed by pinching the red part that holds the grey casing, you pinch that and pull at the same time. At least that's the case in the T180.

Yeah, i found those too, one red part on each side of the cover. I pinched them till my fingers bled, but no.

Well, thanks for replying but it didn't work. Actually it seems like the grey cover is really stuck "behind" the metal. So i actually has to gently lift the cover up with a flat-iron and pull it out. But i'm afraid to damage the cover so i didn't try that hard. It's really stuck, and since this is a new car (2010), i think this is a case for the dealer to "deal" with. I've changed the lights on the left side with no problem, and if it's suppose to be the same design with the cover on the right side, it's not the case in my Auris.

But, really, how can this cover get so stuck? Is this a sign that the car has been in a collision before, perhaps?

I think the dealers used change the lamp "free" as long as the replacement is purchased from them? However, I'd check first as they might not anymore also it might be made from 24K gold and priced accordingly!
