Non-Turbo Needs A Turbo Help Please!

Recommended Posts

Hi i have recently bought a MR2 MK2 1990, im very pleased with it and i always wanted one and now i have one it drives like a dream, although it is missing one thing, a turbo! Ive found a 1992 MR2 REV2 Turbo which is breaking i would use as a donor and found from another source 'eHow' i will need as follows-

Turbocharger

Turbo oil pipe

Wrench set

Turbo exhaust manifold

Turbo stay bracket

Downpipe

Turbo water pipe

Flat-head screwdriver

Adjustable hose clamps

I have a few questions, Is this true and everything i would need? Would the parts be compatable? How hard would this be to do, is this a job for the professionals or could myself being a builder in a different game do it?!

Any help would be greatly appriciated

Thankyou

Not true

you cannot just fit a turbo to an N/A engine ,there are other differences between the two,

for a start theres nowhere on the N/A engine for the turbo oil pipe to fit

only option is a complete engine/gearbox/drive-shaft swap over

Any other help would be greatly appreciated

bash on but i know a few people who have try'd this and it enden up in nothing short of a disaster...also not as simple as thats made out!!easyer and cheaper to buy a badly smashed turbo and swap over the engine, ecu and all wiring needed...

you cant just bolt on a turbo to a n/a car without other changes

that would be a shame as the engine i have has been well looked after, all receipts servicing etc back to when it was bought for 15k in 1990! and it still drives as good as new. Has anyone on here done a conversion and been successful? or can help further in my quest for a turbo'd mr2..

their is no way any thing will work trying to put a turbo on a n/a engine plus you will probably blow a piston or it will not run right and will cost more money to put right and it will take more time than you think . my advice bye a complete engine with loom or falling that a car thats bin in a crash and do a transfer
