my engine bay is the polarised compared to this... :huh:

notice how clean the block is...

is that paint used?

what are the best tried and tested cleaning products to use to achive this type of finnish...

and to get rid of any grease/oil/muck from around the engine

deffinately v clean.

u r able to get different pads for a grinder to do that. dont ask me what they r called or where they can be got. nice job must admit :thumbsup:

Seen pics of that before. does anybody know if that induction kit is made for that car or if it one off anothr car which has been modified to fit it????Looking for one for mine

I was in my local Motorworld today and there are loads of engine/bay cleaning products available. They all have pictures of super clean engines on the tins.

SO.......if you believe the pictures, they all work fantastically. I'm sure that this isn't true though.

Hopefully this year I'll have time to tidy mine up a bit so I may try some of them out.

The block in the photo looks like it's been painted to me.Well nice though.

I was at Gaydon at the weekend and some of the engines on display there were surgically clean. I didn't dare open the bonnet on my car for fear of being very embarrassed.

Right:

Rocker cover and exhaust manifold head shield have been polished.

Cylinder head looks as if its been painted. This is easy to do, need to have a clean surface - and then to use a paint which will withstand high temperatures.

Rest of engine bay has been cleaned. Use a degreasant - eg Gunk. Actually petrol on a rag works quite well.
