Toyota PR

Surley toyota have already made quite big loss on the YTS Turbo in R&D by not actually releasing the car, so what differance would a few more £££'s make in the big scheme off things?

Surely the street cred, image, advertising potential etc would be worth it in the long run?

As to the profit, come off it, if Toyota sold the car £14,500 (price i personally would be willing to pay) you telling me they aint makin any profit from that?

Also what value do Toyota put on loss of sale's when customers switch to another manufacturer because they can't get what they want from Toyota?

In my case toyota have temporarily lost me and my household, Vauxhall have gained 2 customers.

Surinder

PS not having a go at anyone, or company. Just curiouse and lack tact

Hi vmail.

I had the bluetooth put in so I could have a) a conversation without crashing

and B) not get fined for it. (Using the mobile that is.) and it is alot easier than having wires and an ear piece.

Love the how they phrased the remote audio controls...they are now "bolted" on the steering column...so elequently put...I can imagine this uggly affair, with rusty bolts sticking out! just seems like an after thought.

Sorry that was me trying to jazz-up the press release as posted by Toyota PR. :D

Toyota PR - you don't have a friend called Carolyn by any chance do you? B)

None I can think of. Does he look nice?

Well, we would if we sold a certain number. Sell more and you can afford to sell it cheaper, or vice versa for you marketing theorists out there. Thing is, and here is the thing, we have to guess or gamble how many we think we would sell at a certain price. Sure a few of you here would have one at that price, but we need to sell several hundred per year. The considered view was the price vs. volume equation could not be made to balance.

Keep in mind we can't just think of profit on one car at a particular price. The profit - and there is very little profit any small car - has to cover more than the cost of the extra kit fitted.

What, for instance? Well, stocking parts, advertising, brochures, training for technicians, etc ,etc. I won’t launch into a defence of dealer and manufacturer margins – you’d get bored shortly before I would – but the costs involved in bringing a car to market are pretty large even after R&D.

For what it is worth, I was behind launching the car for image reasons, but I accept there are others here who know better.

Just interested - have you started posting on this forum as part of your job or are you an enthusiast anyway who just happens to work for Toyota ?

Heartd about the new Yaris Blue and thought "Arrgghh a competitor for the other Blue Yarii about!"

I think not! :P

The interior is nice, but I much prefer my exterior colour blue - now that is blue!

Also they said it was to T3 spec but it has front fogs? Guessing it just has a few extras but not quite to T-Spirit spec?

Plus I know I'm a bit of a girly girl but I so love the idea of a Yaris Turbo - it would sell like hot cakes! :D

Well it's not a part of my job in a formal sense, although I am always interested in what people think about our cars.

I have worked for Toyota for over seven years (previously Austin Rover, Peugeot, BMW and Cosworth - that pins me down) and I'd say I was also an enthusiast.

It is hard to say which comes first, but I think it is impossible to do my job and not be enthusiastic about the cars. That's not to say I can't spot a right duffer when we make one, just don't expect to see me admit it. Look instead for faint praise.

As for posting, it is a habit in the sense that I am moderator on another forum (www.slotforum.com) so I kind of leapt in without really thinking because in truth I know that is it pretty hard to exist on a forum as a spokesperson for a manufacturer without drawing piles of criticism (and I use the word “piles” in the anal sense).

My hope/intention would be to be just another fan, but I think it only fair I am upfront and honest about what I do. I am not really the right person to ask to sort out warranty issues or detailed technical questions, but I will shed what light I can on things and if someone is truly frustrated with a dealer or the company in general I will try to help.

I will try to help.

can you sneak a few Turbo Yaris's through from the continent?

or assisst in buying them from euro land. I have tried going through the dealers UK and Euro but they just don't want to know. One off my local dealers even argued the existence off such a car!!

Surinder...
