Bumper Coming Away From The Wing?

Hi Folks

Anyone seen this before? It would appear that the offside bumper top section is detaching from the offside wing....sorry about the quality of the pic. In the gap you can almost see the fasteners holding them together ( not from the pic though! ). Tell me, is this normal for the 4.2? If not, how do I fix it?

Cheers

It should just push back into its retaining clips.. You could also apply a bead of clear silicone at the back or between the gap and that will hold it securely..

I had something similar on My 4.3 so pushed it back into place but it sprang back out so I put a fine bead of silicone right at the back edge where it cant be seen.. That sorted it and its stayed put ever since.. Have a drop of white spirit handy in case You get any silicone on the seen paintwork.....

I Cant exactly tell from your picture where on the 4.2 you are refering to? But like charlie says its all plastic clips holding the molding to the body work, so should just push back in, unless its broken of course.

I believe there is a plastic clip that plugs into the end of the wing and the plastic bumper piece clips plugs into this clip.

You could buy a new clip from Toyota and fit it, its probably only a couple of £.

Silicon may work, although its not that great for bonding plastic.

Alternatively could try a small blob of glue from a hot glue gun assuming you can get suitable access.

Note - while effective its a very easy to make a bad mess with a hot glue gun :ffs:

I have attached a diagram I have of the front bumper. The clip is not show as I think its on the wing diagram, which unfortunately I do not have.

Yes...I think it's a clip jobbie I need....as opposed to anything else! I will pic one up when I picking my window scuttle plate fasteners tomorrow.

Justw an'ät too sure wether it was characteristic / common issue....the oher side is a nice snug fit wiht very little gap.

Cheers

My 4.2 was kinda similar there.

Have a look at This Thread and you can see both the diagram and the real life parts to give you some guidance if you want strip and refit to make it snug
